STEM Education
As a Physics Professor in the California State University system, Kevin has a strong interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. His work in higher education provides firsthand insight into the academic preparation students need to succeed after high school.
On the Board of Education, Kevin has supported expanding rigorous academic opportunities for students, including the addition of new Advanced Placement courses including AP Physics and AP Precalculus. He believes students should have access to challenging coursework that prepares them for college, careers, and an increasingly technology-driven economy.
-
College & Career Readiness
Every student’s path after graduation is different. Some students pursue four-year universities, while others choose community college, apprenticeships, military service, technical education, or enter the workforce directly.
Kevin believes schools should prepare students for all postsecondary pathways. His experience teaching at California’s public colleges and universities has helped him understand the knowledge and skills students need to transition successfully from high school to higher education and the workforce.

Supporting Great Employees
Teachers, classified professionals, administrators, and support staff all play an important role in student success.
Kevin believes that attracting and retaining outstanding employees requires maintaining a positive working environment and offering competitive compensation and benefits. Throughout his service on the Board, he has emphasized collaboration with employee organizations and believes strong relationships between the Board, administration, and employees ultimately benefit students.
-
Fiscal Responsibility
The Board of Education is responsible for overseeing a budget that supports instructional programs, facilities, transportation, technology, employee compensation, and student services.
Kevin believes public funds should be managed responsibly while continuing to invest in programs and infrastructure that benefit students. He supports long-term planning and careful financial stewardship to help ensure the District remains fiscally healthy for future generations.

Community Engagement
Kevin regularly attends school events, open houses, athletic competitions, performances, graduations, PTA meetings, employee recognition events, and community gatherings throughout the district.
He believes that effective governance begins with listening to students, families, employees, and community members. Maintaining an active presence in schools and the community helps inform Board decisions and strengthens relationships across the District.
